I am to add that, if required, the principals of the two firms would be prepared to submit an affidavit ac- companied, if necessary, by virth certificates. The Hong- kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, ucing a limited com- pany are, of course, registered in dao form at Somerset

House.

I may add that payments have been also authorised to the Yokohama Specie Bank, and Messrs. Okura & Co., but I assume that it would be necessary to mane frangements

with the Japanese Consul to give a certificate in respect

of this Company and Firm.

I shall be much obliged if you will kindl, let me

know if it would be possible for instructions to be sent

to H..Coreul to issue the required declaration.
